Johnson v. Bradshaw
Just released for publication in the matter of Margo P. Johnson v. Ahmad R. Bradshaw, in which Robert T. Corcoran, Esq. represented Mr. Bradshaw, the Superior Court of New Jersey resolved whether New Jersey has continuing, exclusive jurisdiction over a Uniform Interstate Family Support Act application when there is a temporary child support Order from 2011, but neither party currently lives in New Jersey. The Defendant, Ahmad Bradshaw was employed as a running back for the New York Giants and lived in New Jersey but moved to Indiana when he signed a contract to play for the Indianapolis Colts in 2013. The Plaintiff lived in Virginia and later moved to North Carolina prior to the Court’s decision. The parties’ child never resided in New Jersey. In a case of first impression in New Jersey, the Trial Court ruled that when Bradshaw left New Jersey, the State no longer had continuing, exclusive jurisdiction over the matter to modify the 2011 child support Order, but it retained its jurisdiction to enforce the 2011 Order.
